      • Level: Master I
      • Specialty: I2A
      • Teaching Unit: UEM, Coefficient: 2, Credits: 4.
      • Wide area networks (WANs) connect geographically distant computer networks using connections provided by telecommunications operators. Unlike local area networks (LANs), WANs can span very long distances, serving different geographical areas such as different cities or countries.
      • Overall, this course provides the knowledge needed to understand the specific characteristics of WANs compared with LANs and to master the associated technologies.

      • Understand the specific characteristics of WANs compared with LANs
      • Master the basic WAN technologies and protocols.
      • Analyze enterprise requirements in terms of network services.
      • “Networks” module: Taught in the fifth semester of the Bachelor’s program.
    • This chapter aims to review the fundamental concepts of the OSI and TCP/IP reference models. It introduces the different layers of these models, which describe the overall operation of computer networks. The objective is to ensure that students have a solid command of the theory related to layered network architecture.

    • This chapter aims to describe the services offered by the data link layer of the OSI model: frame delimitation, error detection, and flow control.
