Biochemistry

This subject involves providing instruction on the fundamental principles of biochemistry and the concepts of enzymology and familiarizing students with biochemical techniques.
The student should have some knowledge of chemical bonds (weak and strong) and the physicochemical properties of organic molecules.
1. Chemical bonds
2. Structure and physicochemical properties of carbohydrates
3. Structure and physicochemical properties of lipids
4. Structure and physicochemical properties of amino acids, peptides, and proteins
5. Concepts of Enzymology
6. Concepts of Bioenergetics
7. Carbohydrate Metabolism
8. Lipid Metabolism
9. Metabolism of peptides and proteins
10. Structure and metabolism of other biologically important compounds (Vitamins, Hormones)
