This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts and methods of mathematical modelling in process engineering. It focuses on understanding real processes, identifying relevant variables and parameters, formulating mathematical equations, and solving engineering problems using simple computational tools, particularly Microsoft Excel.

Students will learn how to develop models based on mass and energy balances, represent process behaviour through algebraic and differential equations, and interpret simulation results to support engineering analysis and decision-making.
