Objectives of the Course
The objective of this course is to acquire basic concepts in environmental geology in order to better prevent disaster risks.
Content of module
Lectures:
I. Study of the relationships between humans and geological phenomena in the environment.
II. Analysis of geological factors in land use.
III. Natural geological hazards: earthquakes, landslides, devastating floods, etc.
IV. Mineral and energy resources derived from the substratum and the consequences of their extraction.
V. Groundwater circulation in relation to surface water and environmental issues: acid pollution, water resource exploitation.
VI. Geological criteria for selecting sites for storage or disposal of hazardous materials.
VII. Geological planning in land use management.
VIII. Geochemical elements in soils derived from rocks: deficiencies and toxicity.Practical Work (Tutorials):
